Our Roots
Founded in 2022, Chumma Dance began when two friends set out to make diverse dance styles more accessible to the community. Rooted in South Asian culture, our classes and events celebrate the music, languages, and movement of the subcontinent — featuring songs and genres from across the region.
Our Vision: A confident, connected community where every dancer feels supported and empowered to express themselves.
Our Mission: To create an inclusive, welcoming space for dancers of all levels to explore various dance styles, develop skills, and share their art through sessions and community events.

Gehra Hua with Hir
Semi-Classical (Kathak)

Kathak is a style built on contrast: flowy, expressive upper body against grounded, rhythmic footwork and Gehra Hua gives it the perfect canvas. This is emotive, deeply felt choreography that asks you to let the music move through you. One of Dhurandhar's softest tracks, brought to life through a style that was made for exactly this kind of storytelling.

Open Choreo

Divya brings open style energy to a track that's all colour and movement. No single genre, no rules, just expressive choreography that lets the song lead. Come ready to move freely and have a great time doing it. -
Araj with Shreekari
Semi Classical
(Kathak Fundamentals)24 May 515 pm–715 pm
Shree closes out May with a Fundamentals session dedicated to Kathak: one of India's oldest classical dance forms. Araj, from Bandish Bandits, is the kind of song that makes you want to feel every beat, and this session gives you the vocabulary to do exactly that.
Expect grounded footwork, flowy movement, and two hours of building something that actually stays with you.
